Trabajé como segunda asistente de dirección, fotofija, hice las fotos del poster y el documental de making of El río bajo el río para esta producción de Ciudad Lunar que narra la historia de Karamakate, un chamán amazónico y último sobreviviente de su pueblo, quien guía a dos científicos occidentales —en distintos momentos del siglo XX— en la búsqueda de una planta sagrada. Inspirada en los diarios reales de los exploradores Theodor Koch-Grünberg y Richard Evans Schultes, la película pone en diálogo dos formas de conocimiento: la sabiduría ancestral indígena y la mirada científica occidental. A través de este encuentro, se revela el impacto profundo del colonialismo en los territorios amazónicos, la pérdida de memoria cultural y la resistencia de quienes aún custodian saberes invisibilizados por la historia dominante. 2014.

I worked as second assistant director, still photographer, and created both the photographs and the making-of documentary El río bajo el río, for this Ciudad Lunar production that tells the story of Karamakate, an Amazonian shaman and the last survivor of his people, who guides two Western scientists —at different moments in the 20th century— in the search for a sacred plant. Inspired by the real journals of explorers Theodor Koch-Grünberg and Richard Evans Schultes, the film brings into dialogue two ways of knowing: ancestral Indigenous wisdom and Western scientific inquiry. Through this encounter, it reveals the profound impact of colonialism on Amazonian territories, the loss of cultural memory, and the resistance of those who continue to safeguard knowledge that has long been rendered invisible by dominant history. 2014.
